Formby stands out as the most picturesque among the distinguished selection of eight links courses situated between the charming coastal town of St Annes and the bustling city of Liverpool. Its scenic beauty is enhanced by the encompassing pine trees, imparting a softer, heathland ambiance to the links. Spanning across 470 acres within a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), Formby Golf Club remains one of the rare locales in England where spotting the native Red Squirrel is possible.
Established in 1884, Formby Golf Club initially featured a nine-hole course for its members. The course was expanded to 18 holes in 1912 by Willie Park Junior, with subsequent alterations by James Braid in 1922 and Harry Colt in 1933. In response to coastal erosion concerns in the 1980s, Donald Steel undertook revisions and lengthened the course to over 7,000 yards from the tips, ensuring its contemporary appeal.

ProScot (John & Nicola) were amazing! Super communicative, responsive, accommodating, and overall wonderful people who made our bucket list Scotland golf trip a smashing success full of memories without any of the hassle. We priced out a few group operators and not only was ProScot the best price, but they had amazing access to courses, restaurants, and felt like they knew everyone who worked at every course. Pickup/Dropoff from golf everyday was on-time, seamless, full of banter and the vans were perfect, couldn't ask for more. 100% would book with them again and have already referred over a couple people.
