In 1877 Tom Morris was asked to survey the Arbroath Links and give his opinion as to its suitability for a golf course, and on the 9th of March 1878 a course of 18 holes was opened with a game between Tom Morris and another great professional of his day Mr Rob Dow. The Course remained much the same until more land was purchased and in 1907 Mr Willie Fernie of Troon was employed to redesign the layout. It was not until 1931 that the great James Braid was employed to redesign the bunkering and his layout has not altered a great deal since.
I will be shocked if John and Nicola ever receive anything less than 5 Star ratings. My mates and I were looking for the "bucket list" golf trip to Scotland. We got an itinerary with confirmed tee times and dining reservations a year in advance. The golf courses were Turnberry, Prestwick, Royal Troon, St. Andrews Castle, THE OLD COURSE and Carnoustie. Upon arrival John promised that if anything was not to our liking to call him immediately and he would look into it. We never got a chance to test out his promise because everything went perfectly - with several positive surprises. Thanks John and Nicola for making our trip memorable.

John is a knowledgeable and hilarious tour guide - our group really enjoyed his company. John was attentive, punctual, and high energy. She ensured we were in the Old Course balloting-system and that we were also checked in for the Old Course singles daily lottery. I was fortunate to secure two opportunities to play the Old Course. Nicola went out her way many times, including traveling back to pick me up from another course to ensure I made my Old Course check in time. She also meet up with me on the 18th tee to follow me in while taking pictures of a very memorable experience. ProScotGolf provides exceptional customer service and value. I will be planning my next trip soon.
